In my case, I had been running Ubuntu so most of those tips are moot. But to be thorough, I did remove practically any and every resident program that was running on what should have been a zippy Dell Latitude E with a iQM 2. And yet, running a utility that averaged about 5 seconds on my desktop consistently took 30 seconds on my laptop.
Except for every once in awhile, when it would take 6 or 7 seconds. Whatever the logic is that determines when to power down was clearly NOT working as intended on my laptop. After disabling Speed Step, I have been running for the entire day at speeds very similar to my desktop.
Hopefully someone else thinks to Google for this problem and find themselves helped by a similar approach. FWIW I suppose that this might mean that the laptop uses more battery, but you can be an informed consumer about whether you want to run fast or power-efficiently.

Problem solved! If I use a dell charger with enough W, my precision M i7 2. However, if I use the incorrect charger, it throttles the CPU down to about MHz and is really slow unless you disable speedstep.

Have been frustrated with the speeds on my Dell i7 laptop for ages.After checking as many reviews and comparisons as I could before purchasing, I must say that I am disappointed by the "out of the box" configuration for editing. In both premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve I run into stuttery playback on my footage without even adding any effects to it.
I have searched online, hoping to find the right anwsers, but I haven't yet.
I ran into the video below and hoped it would get better with these settings even though not all options were available for me. I have also ran a Benchmark performance test which came out with the following results: "Overall this PC is performing below expectations 30th percentile. This means that out of PCs with exactly the same components, 70 performed better. The overall PC percentile is the average of each of its individual components.

The weirdest part about it is that it feels like its performance on video playback in Premiere and Resolve is slower then my previous laptop Intel I7 MQ 2. This shouldn't be right. A few days after getting the laptop, I decided to play a game of Overwatch and the CPU was hitting C under load in Overwatch, making it nearly unplayable with the stuttering that was happening. I thought that C seemed very high since it had been repasted. We can repaste 10 times with Kryonaut and the result will be the same. Most of the threads I've seen on here and Reddit say that on stock units people are getting 93C on their stock laptop under load.

I've never really monitored my computer before, but I was wondering if it's normal to see such wide ranges between the core temperatures Core 0 max 95C, core 1 max 88C, etc. Can anyone let me know if these are optimal settings for the laptop? I tried going further with the undervolt but each time I went under mV my laptop would freeze. Are there any other settings I can change to try to get the temps lower? Is there a real point in getting the liquid metal applied if it only drops the temperatures a few more degrees?

YNAug 10, Try raising it above the surface of your desk. Put some stuff under it just make sure to not cover air intake. Repasting with Kryonaut was also waste of money, many times this won't do anything on laptops, I would repaste it with Gelid GC Extreme or Kingpin kPx paste instead.

Vasudev and YN like this. Yea, my bad, I forgot that the mobo is inverted. Repasting with thicker paste would still help, though, if there is a poor heatsink contact with uneven surface. Looking at temp results with more than 10c difference between cores it does look like there is some defect with heatsink where the surface is uneven or the mounting pressure is uneven.
Especially on laptops with less than ideal mounting pressure the majority out there you will not see desktop-like performance when it comes to temps.
Maybe one core is being pegged more than the other. Many applications do not equally load all cores. The physical location of the core matters as well.
Cores places towards the outside of the die will run cooler generally while cores towards the middle run hotter. This is present on desktops as well, but less evident due to better cooling, heatsinks, and mounting pressure.Due to high volumes, response times in the community may be delayed over the next few days.

My computer is running slow but it has an iU processor. It is less than a week old and randomly lags things go slow and mouse lags. Even besides the lag moments every few minutes but they happen more and more often now the computer runs slow.

There are lots of settings that are controlled by the bios but not all of those settings can be easily accessed by the user. The first thing to check is the Windows registry.

It is normal for your Nvidia GPU to slow down when you are on the desktop.
This will keep track of your GPU speed while gaming so you can see if you have a significant problem or not. They are designed to handle these temperatures. Now I see what you mean. You cannot decide what to do if you do not know how big a problem you have. It is running exactly as you have requested.

There is no CPU throttling in the log file. During the game, the CPU speed is consistent. Temperatures are OK so I am not sure why this is happening. HP might have set a very low power limit for your GPU. Run a GPU-Z log file. This might show you if your GPU is hitting a built in power limit when it is forced to slow down. It is not hitting a temperature limit.
